Learn from Lauren’s Lessons

So for this letter I wanted to talk about one of my favourite characters from my novel: Lauren. Before finishing the entire Silver Lining Series, I had written and completed her story. In my mind I pictured her entire life and I knew the obstacles and pain I wanted her to grow through.

So in honour of one of my favourite characters, here are a few lessons that Lauren shows us:

Be yourself always

Everyone struggles with being themselves in some way shape or form. Even Lauren does, and you can see throughout the Silver Lining Series that she tries her best to be true to herself. This is one of the many reasons Kris sways towards her. He admires her weirdness and is awe of her because she doesn’t care of what other people think about her. In a world where all are trying to conform to belong, intentionally make the effort to be you, it’s why you’re her

We all have space to grow

In the sequel, I wanted to show how we are all humans that have space to learn and grow. As mentioned above, I portray Lauren has fun, quirky, determined and resilient but I also wanted to show that she is not perfect. Within the sequel, Kris kindly has to show her some home truths for her to see her own unkind ways at times.

Forgiveness is for you

Following on from the first novel, Lauren shows how her pain has really affected her. Kris shows her the importance of forgiveness and how we should not allow pain to make us bitter, distant and numb. Slowly, we see Lauren practice forgiveness from a place of self-compassion and self-kindness. As I say, forgiveness isn’t for the one that hurt you, its for you as you deserve to live happily.

Life is a schooling process in itself

Throughout the series we observe Lauren’s response to the obstacles that she encounters. She follows her heart and she always does what’s best for her. She allows her past to bring the best out in her and remains true to her Self and to her path. In the sequel we see her emotional maturity which allows her to bring her dreams to life. She accepts her past and allows it to teach her.

It’s okay to ask for help and it’s okay to accept help

In the first novel, Lauren faces a struggle on her own without no support system until Kris reaches out to her, only then does she find the courage to rebuild her life from the ground up. In Brimming Boughs to pursue her creative endeavors, Lauren asks Kris for support. She is a character that proves that it is okay to ask for help. There is strength in recognising that we can’t face everything on our own.

I hope this helps you in some way. As Lauren does, stay true to yourself always.

Have you listened to my interview on Preeti Personal Podcast? It was genuinely such a fun chat! We spoke about my journey with books, anger, forgiveness and self acceptance. This was really a fun conversation, so I would encourage you to take a listen.

My second novel will be out this time next week! If you haven't  pre ordered my novel on kindle, I will go check it now and if you want it in paperback, publishing date is 14th May! I am so excited and I cannot wait for you all to read it!

Be kind to yourself always 🙏🏽

Blessed be,
Vaneeta
